Poltrona Frau
The 2020 Salone del Mobile furniture fair could not take place due to Covid-19, so we created an immersive and maximising website for Poltrona Frau and its two new products: Colorsphere and Future Heritage.
Introduction
Poltrona Frau launched two major innovation in 2020: Colorsphere, the new colour cataloguing system – which got a makeover after 30 years – and Future Heritage, the 2020 collection that combines past with present. The health emergency severely impacted the launch of both of these projects, with the cancellation of the Salone del Mobile furniture fair in Milan. Every obstacle, however, presents an opportunity to be gained. So we imagined a “virtual salon” where visitors could discover the Colorsphere and Future Heritage worlds.
The project
We created a totally immersive website, divided into the two big thematic areas. One part dealt with the Future Heritage collection narrative, which unfolds with a series of comprehensive and exciting spotlights on the new style icons created for 2020. The other part told the visual story of ColorSphere, the chromatic grading scheme that breaths life into the project with a nuanced, ever-changing panoply of colours.
In-depth
The dedicated web site was built by following a UX and immersive navigation operation and using infinite scroll technology. Additional elements included animations to create and narrate the various elements and a parallax scrolling effect. These features thus make the user an active spectator.
